Another Urban Legend.
On Monday - September 24th, 2007 18:31:54Trying to live up to it’s reputation as a true B-movie town, Lillytown is naturally required to host a colony of vicious alligators in their communal sewer system. Unlike those in New York, the alligators in Lillytown are also both giant, as well as horribly mutated, thanks to a tiny bit of slightly overenthusiastic meddling with their DNA by the Professor. The Prof isn’t responsible for the lasers on their heads, though - that must have been some prankster.
As soon as Professor Dr. had informed the city council of a little mishap which accidentally released a few of his experimental specimens to the freedom of the conduits below Lillytown, quick and decisive action was taken to secure the safety of Lillytownians - the 10 feet, titanium wire, electrified fence with motion sensors and satellite uplink was OKed by the council within less than 5 years after the incident. Originally, funding was planned to come from the pension fund scheme for the city’s employees, but the Mayor had already blown all of that on a new ballpark. Current funding proposals involve selling the local fire department into slavery in a neighbouring city, but the city’s lawyers still need to iron out a little constitutional problem with that…shouldn’t take too long, though.
To prevent any unnecessary panic, the general populace has not been informed about the fence’s specific purpose. The disappearances of numerous people have been explained as “likely abducted by Aliens”.
This whole thing is a necessary ingredient of any zombie movie, of course - at least once during the course of the movie, the undead always find a way to attack the protagonists from an unexpected angle, after having suddenly turned from moronic to cunning. When this happens, the viewer is always aware of it ahead of the protagonists, usually due to being shown the approaching zombies, intercut with shots of the blissfully unaware protagonists. At least one of the protagonists always notices something being amiss at the very last moment before the attack, but never manages to prevent the attack or warn all of his comrades in time. Usually, they just manage to shout a warning to one of the other protagonists, who is always standing with their back to the approaching danger. That protagonist always hears the warning and looks towards the source, puzzled, at the very moment they are attacked…unless, of course, it’s the Professor. After the whole sequence, the zombies inexplicably return to being mindless, and start wandering about aimlessly again.
More undead on today’s voting incentive, and then yet more on Thursday.
