Hmyeah, this is just one piece of the puzzle fitting into another. They knew the level of destruction he can leverage, so this was probably inevitable. What i find more impressive is how fast they got this over with after all the bla bla. But then again, Cloud is fairly well known to survive falls from ridiculously high places.
Not to mention that reducing your opponent to 0 HP is just a flag for the story to get on with it where he defeats you in one shot after you curbstomped him for the entire actual battle.  _________________

| Yeah, that outcome was pretty inevitable - but not only starting from the point they decided to bring Sephy along. It was actually inevitable from the start - there was no other outcome than the fall of Emo and the utter destruction of Atlantis. Without Sephy, it would have been something different - volcanic activity, earthquakes, the wrath of the gods - but the city would have been destroyed in any and every case. It's a requirement for this sort of plot. |
