UPDATE INFORMATION: Due to some reasons, Monday's update is going to be two days early, i.e. now. Look into the hypnotic eye and repeat after me: Today is monday, today is monday... (unless you read this on monday, in which case you can repeat it without looking into the hypnotic eye first.) On with the show.
Throughout much of human history, food was so scarce for the majority of people, and supply so insecure, that few things were allowed to go to waste. Many traditional ways of food preparation actually started out as ways to make foodstuffs of dubious quality or in early states of decay edible and (somewhat) tastier, while others were primitive ways of conservation. Most people of those days would be pretty surprised to see people of today smother their premium grade steaks in barbeque - sauce, or marinate or pickle fresh foodstuffs for the taste of it.
Southern Chinese are an exception, however - they have always eaten anything, they eat anything, and they will always eat anything. Just their place in the big plan of things (tm), I guess.
Oh, and that soy sauce is japanese of course, but you catch my drift. |
