The B-Movie Comic 49

Don't worry, I'm positive the WWI flying ace will be able to land his trusty Sopwith Camel safely. After all, he's used to getting shot down, mostly by the Red Baron.
And Sir Winston is going to hear from the world- famous lawyer, that's for sure.

'Red Baron' was the nickname given to German flying ace Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen during WWI. The power of pedantism compels me to remark that he wasn't technically a Baron, since his father was still alive and holding that title, and that his aircraft sported a red and green paint scheme for the majority of the time, so he should have been nicknamed the 'Red and Green Son of a Baron'. But catchyness beats precision every time, even back then.

Anyway, I really enjoy the irony behind the matter - with 80 confirmed kills von Richthofen was the most successful fighter pilot of the first World War, highly decorated, a celebrated war hero. Yet, nowadays, he is best known as the unseen nemesis of an imaginative imaginary beagle. From eagle to beagle.

If you'd like to fight (or be) the Red Baron yourself for the duration of your coffee break, check out 'Triplane Turmoil' a fun little (2 MB) freeware game in the vein of classic 'Sopwith': Triplane

If you'd like to read a better comic strip than this one, check out the 'Complete Peanuts' which should be complete up to 1958 by now.

The 'Complete B-Movie Comic' is complete up to September 5th by now, and will be complete up to September 8th by Thursday, when we will check on our heroes' progress again. We might not be good, but at least we are current. If you find that argument compelling, don't forget to vote for me.
